SLEEP PEACEFULLY LITTLE ONE

Posted by Picasa

Tonight we are very sad. After only 4 weeks since he joined our family, our new puppy became unwell and passed away very suddenly. The little girls had become very attached to him and in such a short time he gave us so much pleasure and joy.

His pain has ended and ours has begun.

SUNDAY SCRIBBLINGS

FIRST LOVE

The touch of your hand on mine
Felt the same
It was as if the warmth of it
Triggered my memory.
Thoughts and feelings surfaced again.

Suddenly the years
Melted away.
Transported back in time
I was that beautiful young girl
In love with the handsome young man.

Such a striking couple!
People would say
Five years of happiness
love and laughter
Then we parted

With your arms around me
Once again holding me close
We remembered
The special times
The shared memories

With our eyes closed
And your lips on mine
We were that young couple
nothing had changed
We were just 32 years older !

SUNDAY SCRIBBLINGS

THREE WISHES

My three wishes are for all mankind (myself included)

FAITH
I wish for all people who have a faith or belief to not lose sight of its teachings. I wish for us to be tolerant of others creeds and religions and not use it as an excuse to wage war and hatred on each other. I wish for us to be faithful and loyal to each other, to our family and friends and colleagues. And I wish for us all to have respect for other peoples customs, history and traditions.

HOPE
I wish for all mankind to never give hope. Hope that our world will be more peaceful. Hope that our planet will not continue to be ravished and plundered and our environment be destroyed forever. Hope that we can leave this earth in a better condition than when we found it for future generations to come.

CHARITY
I wish for all humans to continue to grow our love of our fellow man. To offer kindness and help to our neighbours. To give beneficence to those in need....alms giving to the poor and hungry.....and a smile to a stranger in the street.

My wishes are simple....they cost nothing. They just require each and every one of us to play a small part. We only need to live our lives with these three things in mind and like a small pebble thrown into a pond.....the ripples slowly radiate outwards and ultimately reach everyone.

SOMETHING BEGINNING WITH 'A'

AROMAS My most favourite aromas, of course, come from the kitchen. A slow roasting chicken with potatoes, garlic and rosemary. A simmering rich tomato sauce for pasta. Homemade chicken soup…..the list goes on…..just inhale…….and enjoy!!

APRONS I have worn an apron since I was a little girl. I guess it was the era in which I grew up but I have photographs of me at Nursery School at age 3 and I was wearing one made by my mother. Later, I was educated by the Nuns and of course, an apron/coverall was part of the school uniform during school hours. Now that aprons are in vogue again…I have come full circle.

APPLES From the Garden of Eden to Ancient Rome and Greek Mythology, Apples are still the most loved and revered fruit of all. Crisp, juicy and refreshing, nothing is nicer than a fresh apple…preferably picked straight from the tree. My favourite recipe is Apple Crumble but then again I love Apple Pie. Oh I forgot about Tarte Tatin and then theres Spiced Apple Cake and Apple Sauce and Apple Juice and……..etc. etc. etc.

AMADEUS One of my all time favourite movies! Mozart has played a huge part in our families’ life. My son, now 26, has been playing the Flute since he was 8 years old. You can only imagine how many times we have listened to him practicing and playing the wonderful music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

ANGELS I believe in angels…don’t you? I believe that angels are all around us in different disguises. That nice man who pulled you out of the way of an oncoming car, or the elderly lady who gave the schoolboy money to buy another train ticket when he lost his rail pass. The friendly young girl who appeared from nowhere and asked me if I needed help when I was in a very dangerous situation. I am here today because "I was touched by an angel”

ABUNDANCE
Oxford Dict. ::quantity, more than enough, plenty, overflowing emotion.

I have a quantity of good friends…….more than enough of what I need to survive……….. I have plenty of good health………… and an overflowing emotion of love for my family.

AMORE Italian word for LOVE. My Love for Italy and all things Italian.
I was 21, single and lived in Rome for almost two years. My whole life changed after that experience. I changed. How could I ever be the same again? I was speaking fluent Italian after only 3 mths and I never wanted to live anywhere else for the rest of my life. Ciao Amore! Arrivederci Roma !

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARLING DAUGHTER

I cant believe the years have flown by so fast! Is it really 30 years since I held my first-born baby in my arms? She was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen and today she is the most beautiful person I know. I thank God for every one of those years that she has been my daughter. Im so proud of all her achievements but Im most proud of the way she is raising her two little girls.

Happy Birthday Darling!!

A MOTHERS DAY TRIBUTE

I want to pay tribute to a special group of mothers who, this Sunday, may not be surrounded by their children or just not remembered by their children.

They are the mothers who are in nursing homes, old and frail or suffering from memory loss. For various reasons they have no visitors or have been abandoned altogether by their children.

Mothers who are nurturing and raising disabled children. Children who arn't able to make or buy a tiny gift or even say the words "Happy Mothers Day Mummy" These mothers deserve our praise and respect for their unfailing resolve to never give up on their children.

Single mothers who are bringing up kids on their own without the support of a spouse or family members. These mums are doing a wonderful job of parenting under difficult circumstances.

There is another group of mothers whose children have run away and never been found or their children have been taken from them. Some have been killed in accidents or in other unspeakable ways. Our thoughts and prayers are with them also.

And finally the mothers of soldiers, whose sons went off to a war and never came home. Their pain is also unbearable. They must live out the rest of their lives with a huge void in their hearts.

Thanks to the commercialization of Mothers Day over the years, we usually only see pictures of a contented mother being served breakfast in bed by gorgeous happy little children and a handsome Daddy looking on.

Lets try to remember the other group of Mums that I have just described. Mothering is the hardest most heartbreaking and joyous job in all the world and this special group of "forgotten" mums should always be in our thoughts.

I want to wish all my blogging friends a most happy day on Sunday. I wish you only to be wrapped in the love of your families, for that is truly the only gift we mothers really want on Mothers Day.

ON BEING A MOTHER

Romance fails us
and so do friendships
but the relationship of
Mother and Child
remains indelible and indestructible....
the strongest bond upon this earth.
